GED Science 2026: Biology, Chemistry & Physics Made Simple

The GED Science section is often the one people fear least - and then score lower than expected on. It is not a memory test. It is a reading test wearing a lab coat.

What the test is actually made of

The section runs about 65 minutes and draws its questions from three areas: life science (cells, genetics, ecosystems, human body), physical science (matter, energy, forces, chemistry basics), and Earth and space science (climate, plate tectonics, the solar system). Roughly half the questions come from passages, charts, and diagrams - not from recall.

The skills that decide your score

A three-week plan

Week one - coverage

Two short sessions per topic: cells and genetics, then matter and reactions, then Earth systems. Write a one-line summary of each topic when you finish. If you cannot summarize it in a sentence, you did not learn it.

Week two - data practice

Do only graph, table, and experiment questions. This is where most of the points hide. Time yourself: thirty questions in thirty-five minutes.

Quick check: if a question shows a chart, you should be able to say what it measures before you look at the answer choices.

Week three - full sections

Two complete practice runs under real conditions, with a review of every miss. Spend more time on the review than on the test itself.

How GED science questions are built

The GED science test does not ask you to memorize the periodic table. Roughly sixty percent of the questions are data-interpretation tasks: a diagram, a chart, a table, or a short experiment description, followed by a question about what the data shows. That means the highest-yield skill is not chemistry knowledge - it is reading graphs quickly and understanding what a controlled variable is. Before your test date, drill three question shapes until they are automatic: "which conclusion does the graph support", "what is the independent variable here", and "which statement is contradicted by the data". Thirty minutes a day of pure graph practice will move your score more than three hours of vocabulary cramming.

Biology, chemistry, or physics: what to prioritize

Biology carries the largest share of the test - cells, genetics, human body systems, and ecology appear on every form. Chemistry is second: matter, reactions, the pH scale, and reading atomic diagrams. Physics is the lightest section but produces the most anxiety, because questions about force, motion, and energy feel mathematical when they are mostly conceptual. The full topic list with weighting lives on our GED Science help page. If you only have one week, study in that order: biology first, chemistry second, physics third - and spend every session ending with a timed data set, because that is where the points are.

Short on time? Hand the science test to an expert

If reading charts at 7 a.m. after a twelve-hour shift sounds impossible, there is a proven alternative. Students hire a professional GED test taker to sit science - and the other three subjects - under their registration. It is the same exam, the same center, and the same official diploma, completed by a college-educated expert with a 98.6% pass rate. The service is 100% confidential and NDA-bound, costs a flat fee starting at $299, and delivers results in 2-5 business days. You can pay once to take the GED stress-free, keep your study hours for yourself, and skip the graph drills entirely. No lab diagrams, no hypothesis questions, no test-center nerves - just the diploma you registered for.

GED science questions students ask us

Do I need to memorize formulas for GED science? Very few. The test provides a formula sheet, and most questions test whether you can read a graph, identify a variable, or draw a conclusion from an experiment - data literacy beats memorization almost every time.

Which subject appears most often? Biology - cells, genetics, and human body systems - carries the largest share, followed by chemistry. Physics is the smallest but easiest to rescue quickly, because its questions are mostly conceptual rather than mathematical.

What if I have no time to study science? Then do not study it. Students pay someone to take the GED for them: a verified expert sits all four subjects, and the official diploma arrives in 2-5 business days - 100% confidential and 98.6% guaranteed.
